PREPARATION FOR THE NEW SENIOR SECONDARY EDUCATION

The College was founded in 1991 in response to the increased need for sixth form places in Hong Kong. It has since thrived, providing a comprehensive curriculum for matriculation level students. With the implementation of the new senior secondary initiatives in 2009, the College will continue to:

  • provide a strong academic focus where students are equipped for tertiary study and guided to develop essential skills for life-long learning
  • create a learning environment that will encourage students’ to become studious, independent, analytical and critical thinkers who can communicate effectively in both English and Chinese
  • encourage the development and practice of self-respect and self-discipline in a responsible and democratic school environment through a raft of student-oriented practices.

As the only government-aided school specializing in new senior-secondary education, the College is uniquely placed to build on its existing strengths and expertise. Our teaching staff, who are all experienced and dedicated subject specialists, have been engaged in collaborative planning of both academic and non-academic programmes.

An integrated platform of newly-designed practices, leveraged on the College’s existing strengths, will provide tangible and substantial benefits for the new intake of students. These include:

  • a balanced and flexible curriculum to meet students’ individual needs, interests and abilities
  • a tutorial system that maximizes peer-learning opportunities
  • the ACT curriculum emphasizing three key components: ‘Awareness’, ‘Communication’ and ‘Thinking’
  • a mentor system for the effective administration and delivery of pastoral care
  • a well-structured non-academic curriculum to broaden students’ horizons for the development of a balanced life
