Good morning students, teachers and staff,
Welcome back to a new school year! Today marks a special occasion, especially for our Secondary 4 students, who are embarking on your senior secondary journey at our school. With over 400 students, we are a close-knit community, and I’m excited to see how each of you will contribute to our unique environment.
As you begin this new chapter, it is natural to feel a bit overwhelmed. You may not yet be familiar with your surroundings, but remember, this is a wonderful opportunity for growth and discovery. Just like a pencil: it starts as a simple wooden rod, facing uncertainty when sharpened for the first time. It may seem small, much like how you might feel today, but each of us has the potential to create something extraordinary. No matter how ordinary we may perceive ourselves, we can all leave our mark on the world.
As the pencil faces challenges—like breaking or wearing down—it becomes stronger with each sharpening. Likewise, you will encounter setbacks. How you respond to these challenges will define your experience. Embrace them as opportunities to grow.
With guidance, a pencil can create beautiful art. Each of you has the power to shape your own unique story through your studies and actions. Remember, mistakes don’t define a pencil; it can erase and start fresh, just as you can learn and improve from your experiences. A pencil is not defined by its mistakes. Artists erase and start anew, and so can you. It’s through resilience that you will transform challenges into stepping stones towards success.
As the pencil nears the end of its life, it may become short, but its potential remains. Similarly, as you journey through Secondary 4, 5, and 6, remember that your impact is measured not just by your achievements, but by the connections you make and the legacy you leave.
To our S5 students, this year is a crucial step towards your goals. Embrace the challenges ahead and support one another as you grow and learn together.
To our S6 students, I encourage you to treasure every moment of this final year. Work hard and stay focused as you prepare for the HKDSE. Your efforts now will pave the way for your future, whether that leads to university or your desired career path.
I also want to take a moment to thank our dedicated teachers and staff. Your support and commitment make a significant difference in our students' lives. Together, let’s a positive environment where everyone can thrive.
Today, I urge you to embrace the extraordinary in the ordinary, just like the life of a pencil. You have the power to create, overcome challenges, and leave your mark on our school and beyond. No matter how small you may feel, your contributions matter. Live with purpose and passion, and make this year truly remarkable.
Thank you very much.
