Joint School Science Exhibition (JSSE) - A rewarding scientific journey
Over the course of the summer holiday, our students had participated in the 54th Joint School Science Exhibition (JSSE), for which they had devised the Cane of Balance and presented it at the Hong Kong City Hall to the honourable judges and the public visitors.
Their state-of-the-art design predominantly targets hikers who are susceptible to potential danger thus injury during their hikes. The cane will keep on sending the user's updated location to the cloud database. Upon detection of an unusual acceleration, a signal will be sent to the mobile app with a view to confirming the user’s safety. Should there be no response, a mayday message, along with the user’s location, will be sent out and help will be on its way.
In support of their design and presentation, they had also developed a mobile app which could assist users in planning the hiking route taking into account of the weather. Various live demonstrations of the cane were also conducted in-situ.
Throughout the experience, our students enjoyed the whole process to its entirety. Their innovated design had received much accolade and their effort and creativity were also recognised by the hosting organisation.
