Singapore Study Tour: Expanding Horizons and Global Perspectives

From July 3rd to July 6th, 2024, a group of 21 students and 4 teachers from our school embarked on an enlightening study tour to Singapore, exploring the city-state's remarkable advancements in technology and sustainable development.

 

On the first day, the tour began with a visit to the iconic Jewel of Changi, a stunning nature-inspired complex at Changi Airport. Students were captivated by the breathtaking architecture and the world's tallest indoor waterfall. The group then visited the original statue of Sir Stamford Raffles, the founder of modern Singapore, to learn about the city's rich history. They also explored the Merlion Park and the mesmerizing Gardens by the Bay, where they witnessed the captivating Garden Rhapsody light and sound show.

 

The second day started with a visit to the renowned Singapore Botanic Gardens, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its diverse flora and serene ambiance. The students then made their way to the iconic Marina Bay Sands Art Science Museum, where they immersed themselves in cutting-edge exhibitions and interactive displays. In the evening, they were treated to the captivating Marina Bay Sands light show, which showcased Singapore's remarkable advancements in sustainable lighting and urban design.

 

On the third day, the group ventured into the culturally vibrant neighborhoods of Little India and Kampong Gelam, gaining insights into the city's rich cultural diversity. They then visited the Urban Redevelopment Authority, where they learned about Singapore's visionary urban planning and sustainable development initiatives. The tour culminated with a visit to the NEWater Visitor Centre, where students were amazed by the country's innovative water management system and its commitment to water sustainability.

 

The final day of the tour included an introductory course on Artificial Intelligence, conducted by a professor from the Nanyang Technological University. Students were fascinated by the latest advancements in AI technology and its potential applications. The tour concluded with a visit to the National University of Singapore, one of the world's leading research universities, where students gained a deeper understanding of the country's thriving academic and innovation ecosystem.

 

This enriching study tour has undoubtedly broadened the horizons and global perspectives of our students. They were inspired by Singapore's remarkable achievements in technology, urban planning, and sustainable development, and they are eager to apply the lessons learned in their own communities. We are grateful to the school administration and the tour organizers for providing our students with this invaluable learning opportunity.
